Ball Bearing Lock Question?

I recently purchased a Manix 2XL. Overall I'm very pleased with the knife. However I find the Ball Bearing Lock to be very stiff almost to the point of being difficult to close or unlock the blade. I wanted to ask if this is normal?

I'm accustom to AXIS type locks but this is a very different lock so I really can't compare the two and don't have anything for a reference.

This isn't a complaint or even a concern. I just want to know if this is normal or not? Everything else about the knife is just great! The blade deploys smoothly, lock up is rock solid with no play and the blade is centered. F&F all around is very good.

I'm just wondering about the lock. Does it loosen with time or is this the way it's supposed to be?

Thanks

Mine was every bit as stiff as yours. It's beginning to loosen up now.

If you are trying to work the lock with just your thumb, that's the hard way. Use both the thumb and forefinger, one on each lock button.

The good: I'm left handed, an this is the only knife I can close one handed.

Thanks. That's what I was trying to find out. Fine with me if it's stiff and will loosen up. I just didn't know what to expect.

Prior to buying a knife with the Tri-Ad lock I was well aware to expect the lock to be difficult when closing and it was / is. But did get better over time.

Just hadn't heard anything about the Ball Bearing Lock in that regard. Locks up like a vault though and I really like that.

Thanks again..

Keep in mind, everything from shoes to cars to guns to knives require some break in time. ;)
