This is kind of a what if question, but the idea popped into my head and I've been wondering about it all day

. Has anyone tried using small ball bearings around the pivot pin in a folder? I was just thinking it would give a really smooth action and pretty much eliminate wear on the pin that would cause blade play over time. What do you think?

YES IT WORKS GREAT. Larry Chew comes to mind . his autos have a bearing in the pivot. Also Mel Pardue has made several folders with a bearing type pivot. I believe there is other fellows around also. Call bearings inc in columbus or motion industries and ask for the little guys . They have them .. I though of doing it several years back but lost interest..
I thin the bearsind at that time was 3-6 dollars each.. maybe. Its been 6 years ago so who knows..
Good luck . Mel Im sure will help you with this. Give him a call.
