Does anybody know of a place where I could buy ball chain?

I know Ballchain.com has spools of 100 feet for about $45, and the connector pieces are $4 for 100. But is there anywhere else that is cheaper? I really don't need 100 feet of ball chain, but I'd like to get a spool so I can cut my own lengths.

Are you SURE you don't need 100 ft. of ball chain? I mean, come on, that stuff ALWAYS comes in handy! I never have less than 75 ft. on my person at all times! Hahahahahaha....

Sorry, I don't EVER post off the topic like this, but I couldn't resist...the way you said that alpha was soooooooo funny! 100 ft. of ball chain and 100 connectors!!! I dunno....maybe I'm just loopy from a solid day of work...whatever... Good luck!

Perhaps we could divide up a spool between a few BFC members? How many people would go for, say, 10 feet of ball chain and 10 connectors? It seems like it would be around $5.00 plus a bit of shipping.

Home Depot (here anyway) has three different diameters, by the foot. can't remember the price now though.

Thanks for the tip. I will check my local Home Depot.

The problem with mail-ordering a foot or two of chain is that the "postage and handling" charge is likely to be several times the value of the chain.

I was going to suggest a wedding, but I thought you wanted a Ball & Chain, so never mind.

Coming out of a heavy relationship, I hope the ball & chain thing won't happen for many, many years to come.

Judging from the omni-present wife-fear on BF, I guess that's a good thing.

Guys, don't know what price was on the site from Eric (site was down) but I can get you all the chains you want for $0.40 each. They are MilSpec Stainless Steel in 17" lenghts. I can also cover them in black or od paracord for $2 including the chain.

I bought some nice ball chain and fasteners at my local Tru Value Hardware store in the hardware department; look where they have all the little drawers for various nuts, bolts, connectors, o-rings, etc.

I think they are in 36 inch lengths, brass and nickle... I made a couple of nice neck chains (I bought the nickle chain and fasteners). Actually the one chain was for my Mike Irie Sport 500, but it goes over my head and right shoulder with the blade under my left arm.

Another good source to check would be a good plumbing supply store; I lucked out at the hardware store, so I haven't tried the plumbing store yet, but if I drive by one, I may check and stock up on more.

I picked up a couple of neck chains at a local Police Supply Store. It is heavier than dog tag chain but still break-away design.

By the way, if you want to make the chain black, some Brownell's Oxpho Blue should do it nicely !
