Butch,
Depends how deep and wide you want the groove, also if you want it to end kinda abruptly on the ends or if you want to sort of flow out, sorry ,do not quite know how to explain it.

You can use a cutter exactly or close to the width that you want the groove, then depending on the depth, you may have a radius in the bottom with a short straight section towards the top of the groove and on the ends it will be an "abrupt" end to the groove.

If you want the groove say, 3/16 wide and 3/32 deep you will have a perfect radius if you use a 3/16 diameter cutter.
When I read what I just said it looks pretty confusing but that is the basic principle, I hope I am making sense. It also depends on how thick the steel is, you do not want to go too deep.
Hope this helps.

going to deep is my big worry i ll have to take a look at my Kbar blueprints to see how bad it might be
are all ball mills the same radius or by size ?

FYI and what it's worth..
it's called a fuller , a blood groove is really a bad name for it and only hangs the blade up in the ribs if caught there so the intent is wrongly used
I used to call it the same for many years..
it's there to lighten up the steel :D if I were to use the knife in combat mine would not have the fuller cut into it..:D

The radius on ball mills goes by the size. The ball has a radius relative to the size of the cutter diameter. 1/2" ball has a 1/4" radius etc.
Dan pointed out some food for thought though, I am not in the same league as you guys on that one, I am a lover, not a fighter.
And yes, it is a fuller groove, I actually posted a question in a thread a little while ago about fuller/blood grooves and got some very interesting, knowledgable replies, you might want to look in the archieves.
If you do need any help regarding ball cutters though feel free to e-mail me. I will help where I can, it is part of my trade.....that is about all I can give back to the forum at this point.

well what if i call it a blood fuller :D that still sounds hard corp right
these 2 or 3 (i might have to make one for myself) kbars will be sitting on desks and engraved as such
thank you for the help and i ll post back to this when i get the fuller spec i whould much rather not put it on but hey its part the knife and im just goingto be dressing them up for a fellow marine ret.

you know you can fill a fuller with blood and it is a groove after all :D
the K-bar does have a nostalgia about it, in a warped sota way :D
if I have the meaning right:confused: :D
