Great job on the hawk!! I am currently working on one from a 32 oz ball pein hammer, It is going to take a lot of hammering on this one. Do you have any tips on keeping the drift centered in the opening? I usually have most of my trouble trying to keep it perfectly centered :grumpy: ....Once again great job !!!

I just keep a close check on it as I drifting. If it starts to even slightly get off I way lay on the anvil with the drift still in and try to hammer it back straight. If that doesn't work lay it on the anvil without the drift in and bump it just a little on top and bottom of the sides to knock the hole back in line, then back to drifting. Hope this helps.

Thanks for compliments guys,Forest Walker I have about 25 hours in this one with making the handle from scatch, pouring the pewter and making and doing the brass inlays.

Very nice! I always wanted to try that. do you have any good online resources for using "hammer blanks" to make a hawk?
Love the inlays.

I hadn't wondered into the AT&H forum in a while. Been spending all my time over in the Traditional Slippies and Fixed blades. I'm glad I did pop in today.

Anvil, that is one beautiful hawk! Very nice work!

Beautiful workmanship!! The hammer end is stunning, as is the blade.
I picked up a plain hawk made from a 34 oz ball peen head at the BACA show from Brian Forrest. Nice usable hawk. I'm afraid I'm getting hooked.

Beautiful work. There is plenty of good steel in a quality BP hammer head. Great overall design and execution.
