Can you guys explain to me the difference in a balloon whittler vs a classic whittler. I've seen the terms used on similar knives.

Thanks,

SW

As I understand it, a balloon whittler has more curves than a regular whittler, sort of like a coke bottle jack, but a whittler. I hope that makes some kind of sense.:D

By most (all?) definitions a whittler is a 3 blade knife with the main opposite the 2 secondarys and rides on the spring(s) for both of the secondary blades. This can either be a single split spring or more commanly 2 springs with the main on both of them. A balloon whittler (balloon end) is a whittler that has both ends swelled as if someone blew them up like a balloon. there are several other types of whittler including swell center, seahorse and others. I have even seen a sunfish whitter. For better info there are several ID books out there BRLs guide being a good one.
