Ballparking

These guys are going to want some more information from you.

Price?
Blade length?
Weight?
Demands of the knife? ETC.

You'll even get a variety of suggestions if you give those above guidlines.

If you want to perform as an axe, then buy an axe, and carry (also) a folding knife.

A "good" knife, capable of reasonably heavy-duty...but NOT as an ax..
Spyderco Gayle Bradley...3.5" blade of M4 steel. A great folder.
Spyderco TUFF...4" blade of CPM-3V blade steel. Also great...even heavier-duty than the Gayle Bradley.
Spyderco Military, available in various blade-steels
Benchmade Adamas, model 0275, in D2 steel, 4" blade...VERY strong, capable knife, will take lots of abuse.
All of the above are pretty cheap for you, from about $150 USD to $220 USD.
I would also suggest that you look at Zero Tolerance folders. They are made for heavy-duty, and many of their models might fit your needs.

Becker BK-2 will do what you want. Oh, you said folded knife, sorry, missed that the first time. Folding knives are not ideal for chopping. No good ideas on that.

You are going to hear a lot of recommendations for the Spyderco Paramilitary 2. The reason is because its an amazing knife. It's a fanboy knife for a reason and yes I am an admitted fanboy.

You can get the S30V steel for around $150, But if your budget is between $300-$500, get the M390 Blade seen below.

BUT IF YOU WANT A FOLDING "AX" as you say, Get the Cold Steel Recon 1 XL seen below. Its around $100 and has a VERY STRONG "Triad" Lock.

No folding knife used as an axe will last long, even if only occasionally, they are not made for that kind of work.

I, like many others, recommend a folding saw and a fixed blade knife.
Many folks get by just fine with a simple Mora fixed blade & Bahco Laplander folding saw.
That combination will allow you to process fire wood & do camp chores just fine & won't weigh heavily on your pack or wallet.

And I do believe you should be able to find both close to where you're located.;)

Of course you can spend more for other brands, but the Mora & Bahco combination will serve your needs.

If a folding knife is the only option then go with a Victorinox with a saw blade.....just don't beat on it.

And welcome to BF!

Welcome to the forums!
Folding knives will not function well as an axe!
If you wish to use a knife "like an axe" you need to look at a substantial fixed blade.
Consider a ESEE Jungulas, A Becker BK-4 or a BK-9. If you want to stretch the budget a little consider a Busse ASHBM CG with micarta handles.

Good luck!!!
