Well,
I have been trying to get in the shop more and more..I am currently rebuilding my grinder...this is the year I go pro. SOOO...I have been trying more and more handles..grinding the blades seems easy for me, its the handles that are my bane.
Practice makes perfect...
Laminate Bamboo on an Ontario Heavy 12"
it needs a little hand work, but I like it a lot.
I also carried the edge back to the slabs.

very nice GKN...i like it a lot! and with the edge all the way back (where it should be), its a no brainer. this is how they should come from Ontario :D

When finished, that Ontario does make an excellent tool for the money. I've been wanting to do a similar job on mine, nice looking job there, by the way.
Recently, I won some scales from Burlsource, awesome! I got some dyed stabilized hickory slabs in the mail, and right now they are rough cut and drilled. I need to get some pins, corby bolts, or something to be able to finish the handles.
Gunknifenut, your's look good, did you use epoxy, and what kind of hardware did you use, brass rivets?

That looks great Ontario makes some great machetes that are the perfect platforms for modifications those handles look amazing.

Thanks a LOT guys.
I used 2 ton epoxy (long set) and brass pins. If it doesn't work out in the long run, I will use flared tubes, which I think is the best way to set a handle for the long run.

Looks great Gene. I'd suggest maybe rounding the top edge just a tad for comfort. For my tastes, the ESEE-lite machete is the standard for machete handle ergo's that I compare others to.

I plan on trying to copy the contours of the LM when I shape my handle. It will be an exposed tang, but I also love the LM handle.
