Thanks for the vid. I have never thought about using Boo but I will give it a try after watching the vid. Did you place a hardwood insert in the spindle or are you using the node?

On a side note I think it was your flashlight that got the ember ! ;) jk

The spindle is just the hollow bamboo, there is about a inch to get to th joint/node.
Ha ha my flashlight is a Lightsaber!!

Ha HA! The( A) in SURVIVAL stands for Act Like The Natives ! Epic FAIL!! HA HA!!

Well may be not, the natives would use a bic to start a fire ! ha!!

Thanks

Nice one man! I've done the bamboo fire saw a couple of times but never tried to use it for a bow drill. I'm going to have to give that a try. It's great that potentially the spindle, hearth, bow, tinder nest, and first fuel can all be made from the same material :)

Too cool! The tender nest was bamboo shavings too? If it was mentioned, I am hard of hearing and did not catch it. Is this true bamboo or is it river cane?

Tinder bundle was jute. True Bamboo for the spindle and hearth.
Thanks

He didn't use it in this case. But the potential is definitely there. It is bamboo shavings that are the tinder in the bamboo fire saw, and I have used bamboo shavings with a ferro rod and with flint and steel more than once. So I know that is doable...just had never thought of using the bamboo for the fire bow. This just inspired a few new experiments.
