I let ban talk me into trading for this: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=512620

and now I am RUINED!!!! I will never be happy with a plain old factory knife again! :(

The edge is just perfect for wood and rope-whacking. Takes a razor edge, doesn't curl, and eats wood like a beaver!!

Just pissed me off how beautiful it is. Made me strip the %$#@ out of my Dogfather, reprofile it too, but it doesn't chop like my "banned" FBM.

8 hours of hand-sanding and polishing on the big dog. thanks a lot, Ban!!!!

I'm gonna have to send him some of my others for custom work, now

I have been sick with a serious sinus infection (married to a Doc, too).

Tried whacking a 2.5" manila with ban's Baby. ALMOST made it through.

I do a sharp downstroke, wrist snap, and pull back while whacking.

Maybe some more pics when I can...

Yeah, I scored Ban's thinned GW. Spooky sharp. Haven't had a chance to give it a whirl yet. It has rode in my fishing vest a couple times though.

Great pictures--love that full convex vblade.

Dumpster mutt? More strippers??

Removable D-strap?

Mustard patina?

Leather-wrapped handles?

BAN IS STILL A PIG!!!!

Love the mustard patina (not to mention the beautiful edges), but I have had no success with it taking on INFI.

Infi is so stain resistant that I get much lighter patterns. Try warming the blade under hot tap water, and keeping ambient temp warm for 24 hrs.

thanks, for the compliments. I just use a couple stolen mustard packets from the local convenience store and cut a corner like a pastry bag. A thick layer will oxidize around the mustard, leaving an outline. A thin pattern will oxidize under the mustard. Of course, thoroughly degrease first. Warmer works faster.

I paint a pattern, and then sometimes draw through it with a toothpick. Old chef technique.

Tom,

That DF looks pretty darn good! You did a awesome job  That edge of yours looks more polished than the one on the convex FBM.

That mustard patina looks very interesting.

Wow! Those are pretty darn thin slices. You definately got some skills Old Chef
