Do you guys use the same blade on your metal cutting bandsaws for all of your blade stock? I have a high quality 18 tpi bi-metal blade which will work fine for 3/16" and thicker but how about 1/8" stock?
I'd hate to ruin my expensive blade but I have a lot of 1/8" stock I use. Should I get a 24 tpi or 32 tpi to use on the 1/8" or will the bi-metal blade hold up to the 1/8" stock?

Guy, I use a lenox 14-18 tpi for everything but they do pop teeth off with thin stock especially if the steel is not annealed. Go slow and it will last for awhile. I have taken some back because the teeth pop off and was told by the rep that new blades need to be tempered by cutting a 1" thick solid mild steel bar first. It does seem to help. They dont offer a finer tooth blade.

Thanks Bruce and Mike, I just happen to have some 1" square mild steel stock for making shanks for hardy tools. I need one to weld to a spring fuller that I've been putting off for ages. I'll set the blade up this weekend and saw a hunk off after forging it to fit the hardy hole on my old anvil.

So just how annealed is hot rolled 1084 from Admiral steel? I just visited their web site and they don't have that info posted on the blade steel page. By the way they appear to have revamped their web site and added some new steels including S30V, S90V and 52100 flat bar stock.

Guy, I use Ellis Manufacturing bi metal blades and cut everything from .060 ti to 1" 416 with it, handle materials included. Just $16 and some change a pop and they last for ever.
