Picked this up at a lawn sale yesterday. Thought it might be good for wood/handle material. Haven't had much luck finding the manufacturer or a manual on Google. Looks "sort of" like one of the older Craftsman. It's supposed to be 2 speed--I assume one would have to change the front drive pulley? Thanks for any help!

I had one similar. No power and the blades wanted to break on it because of the sharp corners, - the small wheels. Frsank

Robert, thanks--I found a manual for the 10" Craftsman 113-244510 that looks very similar. It does not mention anything about changing speeds--perhaps the Craftsman was single speed only. It also says only to use .25" blades.

Frank, thank you for your input--a POS, I'm sure, but I thought it worth a $20 gamble. I would think a half horse would be enough to cut wood? I'll watch out for flying blade parts!

I vote for craftsman. Looks a little like mine only newer. Mine is all steel. Get the blades that are made for the 3 wheelers. They are thinner and curve better around the small wheels. Take the tension off the blade when done. the blade last a lot longer that way. Mine takes 62.5" blades.

Thank you--I'll have to measure the blade that's on it. This says it is a 12" and the Craftsman seems to be a 10". The Craftsman manual says it takes a 56 7/8" x 1/4" blade. Can you change speeds on yours? I bought some Lenox bi-metal blades for my porta band, how are 3 wheel saw blades different? I'm thinking I will use this saw just for wood.

seeing it is direct drive ( no gearbox ) I'm guessing it's too fast for metal.

Yes, but it has a nice thin blade. It can be used to rough cut the micarta or wood shapes with a more aggressive tooth than on a wood saw and saves the metal cutting blade from the abrasive war on micaria, G10 etc.

That was my thinking in buying it, as I have the porta band for metal. I thought it would be better for straight cuts with the moving guide thingy (technical term).

Supercut makes some for the 3 wheelers in several widths, but yous looks like smaller Machine. I'd stay with the smaller width blades. Mine has a seperate motor and a 4 " pulley. Looks like yours is one speed unless it has a speed control knob like a smaller one I had.
