Bandicoot Edge Bevel Baffles Me

I have been trying to figure out what my bevel angle is. I wanted to sharpen my Bandicoot on my Spyderco Sharpmaker, but it seems to be hitting the finish just above the bevel. I tried to use the back bevel angle first to help narrow it down a bit, but that finish is so damn hard that it just laughs at the ceramic stones. Do any of you have SRK sharpening tips?

You can raise/lower the angle of the Sharpmaker by just putting something under the base on one side. Thus instead of 20/20, you get 25/15 or 30/10 depending on how much you shift it.

Many production knives often come ground unevenly so even though the included angle is fairly acute, 30-40 degrees, some times one side can be so obtuse it won't hit the Sharpmaker.

If both sides are over 20 each will need the Sharpmaker rod tilded down which is a bit cumbersome. But in that case I would suggest cutting the edge angle down with a x-coarse hone unless you have some need for that heavy an edge.
