So many ask "How Long" I thought I'd say that I got a Bandicoot in the mail today and it took 34 days from the ordering date. Arrived in a box labeled as being from "Busse."

It is sharp.

I ordered my RW last friday :) can't wait for it to get here. I know its still gonna be weeks before i get it but i still cant wait .

:):)

Not too bad....when I ordered my Rat Tail, it took about 40 days or so. It was worth the wait!

i've got some money coming my way soon, going to get a RW, and maybe another Rat. Gonna do some hiking and hack up some wood...make me a hiking stick.

I just hit six weeks on my CT. I don't have much use for the silly games, or bogus delivery times, and will probably cancel it in the next couple of days.

Owen,
I do apologize for the delay, but I completely disagree with your assessment of "silly games". Our delivery times do fluctuate a little but we don't do it to play "silly games" with our customers. If we were able don't you think we'd prefer to ship all items the next day after the order was placed. If you have questions about your order or the reason for the delay feel free to email me and I'll do my best to explain the situation offline.

The problems that occur during production I'll be glad to discuss with you, but I prefer not to do this publicly.

If you'd like to cancel I can take care of that also.

I get really pumped about getting a high performance knife I have ordered and understand how the euphoria of ordering can be dulled by so much time. As Eric wrote, off the shelf orders and fast delivery times are the "ideal". I like to look at the bright side here. I love that this company sells everything it can produce but does not seek shortcuts and does not regularly raise prices. I love that they take as long as it takes to get the QC they demand.

They have been expanding their facilities to meet the demand and shorten delivery times...I think (Eric?)

Maybe something happens to a batch of blades sometimes (they will not sell a second quality product at any price). Maybe they put some military orders ahead of the que (I don't know if that is the case, but would only make me appreciate the company more). Their hard work and attention to detail is why those who have received their knives are so happy.

Economics would suggest that Swamp Rat should increase its prices until the number of orders meet the number of knives currently available. Who wants that? You might be looking at a $350 Ratweiler if that was the case :( (I paid $178 for mine  ). IMO Swamp Rat knives are the best available for the money are among the best for any amount of money for my needs. I'll wait patiently for such quality and value.

Incidentally, I know I have the fever bad and am biased . I love their products but have found they are great people and draw a knowledgable, helpful and entertaining community as well.

Hang in there :)

Guess i know what you mean. Not saying it is so, but it´s clear what you are saying.

I waited 3 months for my rat tail. i contacted Shaggi and it came within a week. ok, so they may be busy or they may have even lost your order (not in my case but shite happens). just contact them and they will do you right. as for me i don't care how long it takes, it's definitely worth the wait!

if anybody orders a busse or swamp rat and expects it soon they'll be disappointed. it takes time. it'll get there when it gets there. plus you can always contact them to inquire about the status of your order. patience grasshoppa, patience!

6 Weeks? No big deal. I have waited since Oct '03 on a blade I ordered (from another maker). "Be patient, Grasshopper".

Most well known custom makers have a wait time of over a year.

Think of it this way: Do you want Swamp Rat to pump out the blades as fast as they can? I dont, because quality will suffer. I would rather wait a couple months and get a perfect knife that I could trust my life with!

I agree on that. but i can see why people get mad at waiting but in the end i bet its all worth it. Just knowing you have something amazing on the way and not knowing forsure when it will show up at your door is the hard part.
