What size blade do the standard import metal cutting bandsaws use. I thought mine was 60 1/2", I cant find my manual, and the only blades I am finding online are 64 1/2" is that the lenght i need?

Also what kind of blades do you guys use on wood cutting bandsaws.

One more question. I broke the blade on my wood cutting bandsaw yesterday, so I cut some g-10 and micarta on my metal cuttin bandsaw and i loved the way it cut, no burning, not chattering, nice smooth cut. Do any of you other guys cut this stuff at slower speeds. It seems like on my wood saw I can cut two pieces of carbon fiber before my blades are shot, will the metal cutting blades at slower speed hold up better?

Thanks for any help

Bi metal blades should help the the wear on the carbon fiber.
To get the right length on your blade take a piece of string and wrap it around the pullys. Then measure is it. This will get you in the ball park.

My saw is 64 1/2. If you look on the machine I have 3 information plates, one on the motor and 2 on the saw frame in faded blue print is the length and the blade thickness details for the machine.

I am fairly shure the casting is a standard size. However I took my blade to the saw doctor the first time and handed it over the counter and he told me what it was just looking at it. I found the info plate latter. Life is like that.

Those horizontal/vertical bandsaws are generally, 641/2"X 1/2"X.025,
get the bi metal blade. I use a 14 tooth for all metals I use.
Another good one is the 14-18 varitooth design.:D
