Are the $26 bi-metal bandsaw blades I'm seeing in my knife supply catalogs worth the money?? How long do they last when you're cutting stainless or brass? Thanks! Michael

L6,

Hey friend! I'm not sure about those blades.
I have never used them. What I use and recommend are (Lennox Diemaster II) blades.
They are fantastic for cutting stainless. Even better for softer metals like brass. They only cost $18-$20 each.

My $.02

Take care!

Thanks Barry, those 2 cent donations are addin up!! I found a web site that sells that name of band saw blade, but they didn't have anything under 96". I just have one of those small horizontal saws, it takes a 64 1/2" blade. Where do you get your's from?? Take care! Michael

L6, do a search for bandsaw blades in this forum. A few weeks ago we talked it up and I listed EC Blackstone's number and lotsa info. Jim Hammond had some good info also.

Sure will Kit, thanks!! Thanks Magnum, I'll check the web site out. I did find an online supplier that sells 66" bi-metal 18 tooth blades for $16.67. Thas pretty good compared to the knife supply catalogs I have. Take care! Michael

I don't know where any of you fellows live and I am wondering if any of you are close to a town or city of any size.I live right next to Tulsa Oklahoma that's about 300,000.
The reason for precedeing?

The Machine Tool Supply Houses!!
There is about 3 in Tulsa and maybe more that will make blades up to your specifications at so much a foot.
The total cost depends upon the quality of the blade you buy and the amount. Some of the supply houses will even keep a certain size in stock for you.
I know there is some awesome tooth, width, hardness, and material combinations availible.
Even if you lived a few miles away it may be worth a run into town once in a while.
I worked in a small shop where we had to cut corners on cost all we could. The supply houses were more than willing to work with us.
We had one grinding wheel that we used about 1 a month of.We couldn't afford a box of them, but they would order a box and when they got down to 1 they would reorder for us.YMMV.

To add to this, Lennox makes the best blades out there, any self respecting electritian uses them, they just plain last longer. they are more expensive however.

Barry, I use a horizonatal bandsaw too. I found some blades at Metalmart.com for $16.67 each. They're bimetal. I'll let you know if they're anygood or not. Got a good start on my horizontal belt grinder tonight. Take care! Michael

Give Larry @ Ellis Mfg. a call. I get my Bi-Metal 64" blades from him. It's been a while since I ordered any, but it seems to me, he beat everyone on price *and* service. His number is (800)383-5547.
