I own a 14” Delta band saw.
3 yrs old.
1/2” blade is centered perfect. tension good.
with no blade, wheels spin noise free smoothly.
under any kind of tension there’s a grinding noise which seems to be louder up top, but hard to tell.
sounds like metal touching Metal.
tried everything.
could the bearings be bad?

I'm not familiar with your model.
Could a guide be missing? Causing the saw blade to touch something it shouldn't

If your 14” Delta is the same model I was looking at (model 28-400) it has a 5-yr warranty. I’d contact them directly for guidance & let them figure it out.

Sounds like one of two things.
1) Bad upper bearing.
2) Something touching along the side guide from the bast to the upper head.

Does the blade track right when running under tension?
Have you carefully examined the two channels that the blade goes through on each side of the upper wheel. I had a similar issue with my 14" saw and it was the movable cover and guide touching the blade. It wasn't fully locked tight.

Try these:
Oil the upper bearing well and see if that changes the sound. If so, get a new bearing set.
Be sure to check behind the upper wheel to make sure there isn't something that touches under tension load. This is probably caused by either a bad bearing or the wheel not adjusted right for tracking.

If it’s one of the squared ones, I had a similar noise when a guide bearing went bad. If your guides are off and the guide adjustment isn’t bent somewhere, then it’s pretty likely a wheel bearing is bad. Tightening it down and turning the wheels by hand might help you track it down.
