Bandsaw vs Scroll Saw

Had a question that I wanted to ask you guys.

I have been out of the knifemaking Art for a couple years due to deployments and such. But I'm back! And I'm very excited to start up again. I have been slowly getting the shop together and I'm stuck on the bandsaw.

I previously owned a Harbor Freight Bandsaw (Yea, I'm cheap) and moved, and decided not to take the bandsaw with me because it would never track, and always gave me trouble (I think it burned out too). So, I bought a hacksaw last night because I will have to make some cuts, but I'm eventually going to have to get some power cutting machine. Are scroll saws too weak to cut carbon steel? Just wanted your opinions because I want to be able to make ok cuts for under $200, without throwing the hacksaw out of fustration. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I use a Makita variable speed jig saw with a bimetal blade to cut 0-1 steel. I have to becareful not to cut too aggresively otherwise the blade over heats and the teeth dull. As long as I go slow and not let the blade heat up, it works quite well.

I can actually cut pretty fast with a good sharp blade on a regular hack saw if it is one of the better high tension models.

Im not too familiar with metal cutting scroll saws, Ive used them on wood, seems too lightweight for metal.
