I am a Chef and if there is one thing I love about my line of work it's knives. I've been into handmade Japanese knives for sometime now and always carried a Gerber in my pocket to breakdown boxes etc. etc. For whatever reason a few months ago I decided that the knife in my pocket should be as special to me as the knife on my cutting board. So I started shopping around and was lured in by the looks of Spyderco's. I purchased a Dice... i was addicted to kitchen knives and as soon as my Spyderco Dice arrived in the mail it took me around 24 hours before I ordered my second folding knife (Manix 2) and this is where it started for me.
A few months later, a drained bank account and I've acquired a couple Striders, CRK Sebenza, a Bodega, Spyderco Southard and Rubicon (I'm waiting on a Sebenza to arrive in the mail today) and a few more. I love all of them and I'm addicted in every way as many of us are but here's where the title of this post comes into play...
How do I bang out my own knife? I cannot help myself and I need to know how to make a knife at home. This is the start of my research on how to created my own fixed blade. I have no idea where to begin and after this post I'll be scoping the web and youtube for some blacksmithing tips. I'm fairly new to folding knives so bare with me but if anyone has any useful info and/or tips and direction for me I am all ears. My goal is make a fixed blade. If all goes well and I can achieve a fixed blade I'm happy with I'll set more goals.
