Hello,
I was banned from thehighroad.org but I have no idea why. I know this isn't the place to put this but I thought someone might be able to help me out. I try to access the forum and I get a message that states I was banned but no reason was given and the date the ban will end it never.

I honestly have no idea why I was banned so I just want to know if this is a mistake or if I did something wrong. My screen name was "albanian". Maybe someone can do a search over there and see if they find anything out.

I am at a loss and they won't return my e-mails. I have not used the site for a few days and then when I went to log on. I noticed I was not able to. I bought some items from someone on THR and I have no way of finding out if they got my MO or what. I am kind of pissed off to be honest.

try clearing your cookies and trying again.

Found your last post on nov. 9 ...says you are a member under your name.

You could always try emailing Oleg Volk directly. IIRC, they get a lot of email at THR and it takes them a while to get through it all. Barring that, you might be able to get more help regarding THR at ArmedPoliteSociety. You should be able to find the link to APS in one of the stickies in the L&P forum.

Shows your last activity as "Last Activity: Today 01:28 PM"

That's strange if you haven't used the site for a few days.

You're also still listed as "Member."

I posted a thread for you (and copied this post and link) in the Technical Support forum.

Here's the thread: http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=234517

Maybe you'll get some answers.

I mostly just lurk here because I don't really know all that much about blades and the search function answers my questions pretty sufficiently, but like you, I was banned from THR as well on November 9th. It seems that's the policy these days. I suggested to a member "now apologize for being a jerk" and that was taken as a personal attack. So it may be that you did something you're unaware of...I certainly did not expect to be banned for saying what I said given all of the much, much worse comments about political affiliations and race/national origin as well as all the "paranoid", "delusional" and 'keyboard commando who would pee himself silly at the first sign of trouble' type insults that run rampant there these days.

If you clear your cookies, you can probably go back and read the last few threads that you posted in if you remember what they were and have some time to scroll...if you were banned based on something you posted, the MOD would have likely edited out the offending comments and then you know who to contact. Since you can't use the forums to find the e-mail of said MOD, you'll have to find a friend to do it for you and/or PM the moderator in question. I tried the webmaster address, but that got me a terse comment from the MOD that banned me that I obviously didn't try very hard to contact him directly, whatever that was supposed to mean.

Good luck.

To be clear, I was warned over a year ago for saying "don't get your panties into a bunch" and something not quite so vulgar but equally useless, that was the basis for banning me for my "Now apologize for being a jerk" comment. Were you ever warned, even casually, ever in your time at THR about anything?

"Were you ever warned, even casually, ever in your time at THR about anything?"

I got no warnings or PMs about anything and I don't think I have even said anything close to get banned for. I don't go on there to cause trouble so I am at a loss. They won't seem to respond to my e-mails either. I believe a mistake had been made. What I am actually worried about is, maybe someone has hacked my account or my computer and they posted something in my name. If that happened, I need to know so I can protect myself.

Thanks for all you guys helping me but if this is the way they treat long time members, I am not interested in being any part of their site. If I had a clue as to why I was banned, I would at least be on the path to understanding.

The only thing I was ever warned about was I was bashing Kel-Tec handguns about a year ago because I got a bad P-32 and I wanted everybody to know what I thought of it. I thought that was okay since it is just my opinion based off my experiences. I got a real lemon of a gun and I suspected that the quality of their guns is pretty bad. I would let people know that I thought Kel-Tecs are POS and I got a warning for it. I didn't agree with the warning since I was only stating my opinion but that is that.

I have not talked about Kel-Tec in months and I have not said anything ban worthy ever so unless they answer my e-mail and say it was a big mistake, I am done with THR forever. There are too many other gun forums out there.

When I posted yesterday. I was just on THR and the green light, indicating the member is online, was next to your user name.

I was showing online as well, but I was only looking at the banned notice page. Unless they ban you by IP, if you leave your THR cookie alone, whenever you visit it will log you in and then inform you of the ban (again and again and again and again). If you clear your cookies, you can read the forums and it won't attempt to log you in and thus it won't show you online.

Not sure if that's kgriggs' issue or not though, just my observations is all.

God, 2 posts and none of them are about knives, I smell like a troll. :(

In that case, I won't bother making another one at this point on this subject...

Kgriggs, if you were warned about the Kel-tec, that could very well be the basis for your ban now without further warning. I truly wonder what you said that got you banned (unless of course it is a mistake as I honestly hope it is).

What e-mail address are you trying (well, whose, don't list the addy here, wouldn't be prudent)?

Any word yet? That thread I started was seen by the mods, but then it was immediately closed.

I finally spoke to someone. I am not going to get into in detail but I actually didn't do anything wrong to get banned for. They have decided to ban me after three years and almost 2000 posts for basically no good reason. I looked at my past posts to see if maybe I said something that I forgot but I didn't. Nothing I said or did was out of line.

It is kind of sad that they just rule with an iron fist and there is no questioning their judgement. I know BF would never ban someone unless they did something to deserve it and even then they would probably warn them as well. THR seems to take delight in showing that they can get rid of anyone at any time for any reason. I saw a few good long time members get banned just for asking why another member was banned. If you question them, you are gone.

Guyon,
I am surprised that they didn't ban you for posting the thread that you spoke of. Thanks for the effort but be careful what you post, they will close your account for a lot less.

Sorry to take up time and space with this thread but when you post somewhere for over three years and spend many hours reading and writing on a forum, you get attached. It sad that the MODs over there just like to throw their power around. I been on BF for nearly five years and I never saw anyone get banned that didn't have it comming. I can't say the same for THR. I'm glad to be gone but I will miss some of the members over there, they are really great people that just happen to suffer under power mad MODs.

Thanks BF for letting me vent a little. That is the end of it. Glad to be here where mods act like your friends and not your parole officer.
