Something never changes...

1 Bantam Alox and 1 vintage style pocket knife (I don't think it's an antique piece) bought in Europe.

Both are compact and slim, might come rather handy in summer.

Actually, I'm not sure the scales of Bantam Alox are made of aluminium or plastic. :confused:I don't think they feel like aluminium scales,but for plastic,they are super sturdy!

Great knives. There are a lot of knives here in Europe, especially from Germany, which are very similar to SAKs. Another brand that some of you maybe recognise is Mikov, from former Czechoslovakia. They made, amongst others, a range of scout knives.

There are no alox models with plastic scales. Alox is short for aluminium oxide.

Maybe you are confused with Victorinox their Silver Tech series? Those are SAKs with plastic scales which have a silver look.

Correct.....Translucent plastic not Alox

Here is a cellidor Bantam with some NRA custom printing.

You can see the flipside in this photo. It is the SAK on top.

Cellidor Bantam comes with thicker scales and 2 extra tools, not "slim" enough for my taste.

I'm assuming you're referring to the addition of the toothpick and tweezers. It's still a 1-layer knife like the Alox Bantam, although it is thicker by nature, due to the Cellidor.

Just notice that NRA version doesn't have the toothpick and tweezers. Did they make a version of the Bantam like this or is this a different model?

From SAKWIKI;

"As part of the Victorinox Ecoline, Cellidor versions were produced with a Hot-Stamped shield logo, as well as without toothpick, tweezers, or keyring. Current Ecoline models have Nylon scales."

Thanks for sharing those pics, scud. As a lover of thin knives, I find it astounding that they're almost impossible to find these days. There's almost nothing like the Alox Bantam being made today with that sort of utility in that tight a package.

And yet, in my father's time, they were in every hardware store. With elegant filework, too.
