My new Buck bantam has 284 stamped on the blade near the handle, what would that mean?

Its the smaller of the bantam series, the 285 and 86 being larger...

The Bantam imho is one of the best deals out there. Inexpensive USA made knife. My oldest daughter has a small pink one we bought her about 2 1/ years ago. She uses it for everything. My 11yo son received a large one for Christmas last year and carries it everyday. Great inexpensive knives. Also welcome aboard.

Great quality at a great price. The steel seems to be of very high quality. Buck may not always be the flashiest but they always help get the job done.
