Does anyone have a Barco "Camp Axe"?
1-1/4 pound head, 14" length, made in USA, and under $20.
And did I mention made in USA?

I found a reference (search terms "US military issue axe") that says a similar hatchet is the current military issue for the USMC, Army and Coast Guard. Available to us civilians in olive drab paint, in canvas sheath with Alice clip.

1045 Carbon Steel.
Head is 3-1/8" x 5" x 3/4" thick, with stake pull notch.
Made in USA by Barco.

Any experiences, good or bad?

After seeing the pic and you mentioning it, I believe I've used a couple in the USCG. I think it's usually a part of our damage control kits. I can't comment on it's performance because both the ones I remember were was pretty beat up, and I have never used them to chop much. The whole head gets painted to keep it from rusting, and its used mainly as a hammer to pound in wedges and such during training.
