Barcode software?

Is there any freeware or shareware software available for creating and printing useable barcode labels? Any of the downloadable demos print DEMO or TRIAL accross the face of the label - and I don't want to pay $139. for printing off the 40 labels that I need.
 
Thanks for the links. When I Google'd this topic, everything that looked promising was at least $100. I just need something that will give me 40 labels for a one-time use.
 
Ah crap. The barcode software listed at NoNags' Printing Tools section is no longer available. The program was called "sch-Barcode Generator".

These guys have a 'free' barcode generator:

But the "free" version is limited to 200 uses. Might be good enough since you just need a few. (Actually, according to the description there is no restrictions on this program for personal or non-profit use; the 200 limitation only applies to "commercial organizations")

Here's another, with no limits on use, completely Freeware. I found this one listed at FreewareHome:

It works by inserting barcodes into a MS Word document.

The Barcode Generator seems to be the most useful for my simple needs - 40 barcode labels to slap on the back of some books. However, there's still some "cut & paste' required to get the bardcode onto a self-adhesive label. I'll get back to ya! ;)
