Barcode stickers

I bought a cheap (but very good) knife about a week ago and it has a barcode sticker on the back of the handle just below the pocket clip. I started to peel the sticker off but it decided it was going to be a pain in the ass and be one of those stickers that just wont come off in one piece, so I flattened it back onto the handle of the knife. So my question is, is there anything I can use to get that sticker off neatly, without having to scratch at it with my fingernails for ages? Thanks :)

check you local wally world equlilvent they used to have something actually called sticker remover, it had a plastic scraper and a special fluid that would penetrate the sticker and loosen the glue, but it was also harmless to anything other than the glue.

Alcohol or a little bit of cooking oil on a rag will usually do the trick.

WD40 does the job in most cases and won't damage most surfaces. Cooking oil from your kitchen will also often work with no damage to the surface.

Most come off for me by heating the sticker first with a hair dryer, peeling the sticker off, then cleaning up any residue with naptha.
