My second attempt at bareheading a Buck. This is a '96 vintage. the cedar is some I cut down to make some benches. I saw this wood in one of the benches so the bench became became a foot shorter. This ipad doesn't take all that great of a pic and doesn't do this wood justice. The accent is buffalo horn.

I think it came out OK. It's currently in satin finish and will probably stay that way. Enjoy.

That's some good looking work you did on that knife ,
and I agree the satin finish was the way to go on that one .

Great work, Pete, I'm not found of bareheads, I do like redheads so a barehead, redhead, like that, I would be proud to own. Preston

Great work!

What tools did you use to cut the spacers ?

How did you keep the spacers square to the front part of the frame?

Curious minds would like to know.

Thanks.

Thanks for the positive responses folks!

It's really hard to tear into an original knife and to have to destroy the original scales. I have to really talk myself into it. I've only done 2 and neither one has been a total loss, so I'm doing OK.

It is however nice to in the end have something is both unique and represents a part of me and my land. This tree died after the drought of 2011 but now lives on through this knife.

I also did the stabilizing on the scales. The stabilizer I used took a lot of the red from the cedar so I'm going to try something new next time.

Here is the first for those who haven't seen it.

I really like the way that cedar looks. I even like the color. Very nice. How hard was it to get rid of the rear bolsters?
