Baretta Airlight blade steel?

I once had two old Baretta Airlights with the plastic handle that I threw in my random junk bin not too long ago. One had a large half serrated blade one and a small fully serrated blade. Neither had a pocket clip and the back of the blade of the larger of the two actually broke despite little use. I'm not one to use the term "value" when it comes to nicen up poor quality things i.e. awful 8Cr13Mov steel a "good value". These knives are crappy.

GETTING TO THE POINT I remember years ago sharpening these things and they would lose the edge super quickly compared to the VG-10 and s30/90/100v I use today. When I do a little googling it says the Airlight II was made with 440c, but does anyone know what the original Airlight was made of? I'd take a picture of the one I still had but I threw it in a bin of dull bits I need to resharpen and can't find it.

Original Beretta Airweight knives were made with 440C by Moki knives in Japan. I have one I bought many years ago (late 90s?) and it's a good knife. Mainly bought it for the funky looking cut-outs in the blade.

Only mention I found of the steel in the Beretta Airweight 2 is AUS-6.

Interesting, and yes I bought it because of that too. I never had experience with 440C other than that but was curious about the 440 steels since vector runs their scam out of an office not too far from here. Also there's the fact that there was no steel type stamped on it like pocket knife makers usually do. Lastly, yes your date (late 90s) matches up because I had both of them when I was pretty young and the larger of the two broke in 2009 or something like that. I'll still post an image of the small one for shits and giggles if I ever find it.

I had one with an aluminum handle. I thought it was a cool knife back in the day. Lost it in an attic in a Jacksonville apartment complex while doing AC work years ago.

I think the Avenger was by far the coolest Beretta knife. Carbon fibre laminated steel blade? Come on guy, that is too fly.
