I've been working out a Blade Sports-type obstacle course to test my bigger knives (between 8 and 12 inches) with four increasing levels of difficulty. (I wouldn't stand a chance against the pros, but I reckon if I keep at it I'm bound to get better at it eventually. One thing that's missing is the 2x4 chop; all the obstacles are essentially pass or fail one attempt type stuff) Here is the beginner course:

Splitting that straw was nearly your undoing ! ;) But you totally dominated that pineapple .

Great performance . :cool::thumbsup:

Interesting exercise . I'm not so organized or ambitious . Too old and lazy .

Also , I'd have to police up my own mess ,right quick, or get a harsh lecture from the wife . :oops:

Splitting the straw is kind of hard to do in a timely manner; I lifted that part of it (and many other aspects) from cutting competition videos I've seen in YouTube. I'll mix in my own obstacles (mostly predicated by stuff I find at the dump) from time to time. (Pool noodles are back in season at the Dollar Tree so I'll have to work those in somewhere in a future course.)

My wife always makes me clean up my mess; I'm just thankful she doesn't mind that I go out in the side yard to chop things up in the first place. A less tolerant woman wouldn't understand why a man needs another old machete for their collection, or is stopping to get a pile of bamboo blinds that someone threw out..

;) My wife is nearly a saint in that regard . Most would have not stuck around for the rough ride for 45 years . :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I used to wait to do major firearms noise making 'til she was at work or shopping . We're both retired now , but I shoot less anyway .

I'm not allowed to play much in the house , but I got ~ 90 acres of woodland .

I love this area , cause nobody cares and everyone generally minds there own business . :)

I was playing with my Cold Steel HD Sword Cane last evening .

I might try to set up a simple course , to practice movement and cutting with the HDSC and other blades .

Keep up the good work . Very inspirational . :cool:

Thanks! I have to admit I'm a bit jealous that you are enough in the woods to be able to shoot on your own property. One of the reasons I started chopping more is that I can't shoot as often as I would like to.

I love it here , but we have ~10acres cleared that requires a lot of mowing and maintenance .

Downed trees , damaged fences , washed out long gravel driveway , etc . House and out buildings repairs . Lots of DIY work with no tractors or large equipment to help .

We're both getting kinda old. Don't know for how much longer we'll be able to stay here . :(

Great while it lasts ! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
