Happy New Year people, I just wanted to bounce this off of a few of you out there in Knife Land to see what responses I get.

2 Weeks ago I purchased the Bark River Bravo 1 and also decided to buy the Left Handed sheath from Dave at The Knife connection, my questions is does any of you use this knife as your primary hunting knife??? I think it maybe a bit to beefy to be using out there. Any help with your experiences would be a great help.

BTW, I just bought the Gunny and ordered a JRE Custom Sheath today lol These Bark Rivers knives could become a problem since I feel I just cannot own just one.

Any feedback will be a great help.:D

I worked 3 elk with my new 3v version this past season. I love it, its not to beefy. I thought it was perfect. My go to hunting knife from now on.

I do find it too 'beefy', and also too slippery - the handle is polished and twists easily because of its shape - and I also prefer a drop-point.

That said, it isn't too heavy thanks to the skeletonized tang, and mine is ground very thin so it slices well. But there are so many better knives out there for the purpose at the price, it could never be my 'primary' hunting knife. Just my $0.02

I have a Bravo 1 and a Gunny. I like the Bravo 1 as a general field knife. But the blade is a little wide (edge to spine) to make it ideal for hunting. Now the Gunny is a good size all the way around. The blade is not too wide and the over all length isn’t too long to get in the way while field dressing deer. You have one on the way and I’m sure you will agree.

And yes, Bark River’s are addicting.
