My experience with the green has shown me that it is not uniform. There are stray larger grit particles scattered throughout it.

I use the green. There is better stuff out there, but at the time I bought it was a good option for me. I rarely use the black.
The green is definitely coarser than 0.5 micron like others. It cuts fast and leaves probably about a 3 micron finish. It's good stuff and a bar will last you a lifetime. However, there are better/cheaper options out there.
