Well, "worth" can be difficult to judge, it depends a lot on the user. I've had my EV0-1 for a little while and used if for a few day hikes. The handle is a little odd, and takes getting use to, but the number of grips you can use for chopping to choking up on small work is pretty handy. It is an expensive knife, but considering the design and the difficult convex grind...it could be assumed a good deal. A small word on the edge...I'm sold on convex grinds, period. My EVO-1 was used to chop a bunch of branches, clearing vine-vegetation, used to batton some 6-7" diameter logs...it cleaned up well, and after a little stropping, could shave hair again; I was amazed. It balances well, and the recurve really aides in chopping.
Here's a picture of the EVO-1 with a few other knives, it does have a 9.5" blade, but is deceptively small-looking compared to my Livesay RTAK:
If you're running just one big blade and a smaller utility knife, it would be a great choice. I'm still happy with my current backpacking combinations, and the EVO-1 doesn't quite fit...it's a very versatile blade, I just sometimes prefer more tools with specific functions than one tool that can do many...something like all your eggs in one basket.
