The Featherweight Hunter was just released and is a scaled down version of the Drop Point Hunter. It always helps me to see knives in hand and compared to others, so hopefully someone gets some use out of this little video.

That's a good video. Not sure how that handle would feel being a 3 - 3.5 finger version of the classic DPH however. I would think it would tend to create a hotspot by having your pinky ride on the tip of or the back end of the grip. I bet that thin blade slices great though!

I am working on a video too.

These things are hard to put down. The 3.5-4 finger grip is remarkably comfortable. The handle is very thin at the back end and it just seems to melt into your hand.

It is a sure winner. :)

Nice video on a really nice looking knife. I think it would made a great hunting knife.

I don't agree with you on the hotspot. Maybe it depends what your cutting with it. This knife I believe was designed as a hunting knife meant to cut flesh where a lot of pressure is not required

Here is my video on the knife.

I don't think the handle will be prone to hot spots for two reasons.

1. It really is exceptionally comfortable.
2. The way a hunter is used, your hand moves around on the knife and you are not holding it very tightly anyway.

I noticed with my Highland Special that my pinky finger constantly rubs on that back edge of the handle, that's why I commented that this may do the same thing, and not for general cutting, I hunt religiously and have cleaned plenty of deer to find out that this happens. Maybe it's just the way I prefer to hold the knife. I have a couple of the standard Classic Drop Point Hunters and they are excellent. I may have to give this one a try at some point and find out for myself!

Thanks for the other video Derrick

I need another hunting knife like I need a hole in the head, but Derrick is sending one of these my way. I couldn't resist! :)

Thanks for these videos, gents. It was particularly useful to see the Featherweight next to the full-size version, esp. from a top view. The Featherweight is certainly in the ballpark of some other "ultra-lightweight" hunting knives I see being marketed, but with the huge added bonus of an ergonomic handle. A knife with a skeletonized piece of metal passing for a handle isn't a very practical hunting knife, particularly for larger jobs, in my experience.

The Loveless drop point is the quintessential hunting knife, imo. The perfect marriage of extremely functional, and beautifully proportioned to the eye

I certainly hope there will be a Featherweight in 3V at some point in the future...

Yep. Everyone holds a knife differently for different tasks. The way I use a hunting knife, this will be awesome. Other people, not so much. :)
