So who thinks it about time for Bark River to expand their line of knives and start producing some high-end folder designs?

Or American made BlackJack folders would be fine too.

Could you imagine having Bark River's fit, finish, grind, and function in a folder design? Plus having the same availability and choices in handle scale materials would just be astronomical in the knife world. Nobody has a line of folders with that type of handle material availability. I think this would create a shockwave in the knife industry that would make other companies tremble a bit lol.

Could this be a possibility in the near future???? I would buy ten of them right out the gate.

So how about it? Anybody else wish this would happen??

They have talked about it for YEARS and it will not happen until they can find someone with a shop set up to make folders to partner up with.

For some reason, doing that has proven to be a challenge for Mike Stewart/BRK.

JMO, but even if they did get around to doing something like this, I think you're greatly overestimating the impact such a knife would have on the industry. :)

perhaps I could be overestimating the effect on the industry. But at the same time, there aren't many high end convexed folders out there, and there sure aren't any high end convex folders that offer a wide array of handle material options like Bark River does their fixed blades. I know the design factor might be a little complex to accommodate scales on every pattern, but it would be nice to have the option of choosing the many different types of scale material to suit ones fancy.

I think they would sell. I know they would function with Stewarts knife design knowledge. Im sure he has some folder design drawings hidden somewhere.

He does. See my earlier post. Its a matter of tooling.

I can't think of anything that a BRKT folder could offer that can't already be found in an existing knife, and it would probably be priced in the same realm as customs, so I'm not sure there is much of a niche for them. Could they do it and do it well? I'm confident they could. I just think it would detract from their thriving high-end fixed blade business.

My thought is similar to popedandy's, but why not just ask Mike Stewart. He is a pretty reachable person.

You are grossly underestimating the buying habits of the hard core Barkites. They would buy every folder BRK made. They'd buy different-scaled versions of the same folder. It would only add to their business. The Barkites have been begging for folders for years and Mike Stewart would love to sell them folders.

But they are not set up to make them. They would need to find a partner who is.

They actually have some models on their production schedule with no date set, I say again... with no date scheduled for production, probably just as place holders. But they are there so they're at least aware of the demand.

This.

There have been a few times I've thought about starting an thread inquiring about a BRKT and then just decided to ask Mike over at KF. I've said before that I'm stunned at how quickly he answers every time.

I don't know any knife company that offers the customers choice of handle materials like BRKT. Plus no other has knife company has BRKT designs. Each company has their own design. That's the only reason anybody buys other knives. Knives are knives. Designs are different.

Plus if they offer folder conversion designs of their fixed blades, then they would sell a lot. If a collector or knife nut had 3 or 4 barkie fixed blades and BRKT offered the same design in a folder, then they would probably buy one of each to match their fixed blade. I know I would.

As far as price goes, I think BRKT would stay comparable to their fixed blade prices. And IMO they are worth every penny.

So how many Bark River knives do you own Karambit? I own one. I own several Blackjacks made by Bark River.

( Bark Rivers ) I have two Bravo 1's - one Gunny - one Bravo 1.5 - (Black Jacks) Tac Ops 4 - Tac Ops 6. I think that's it for the brkt and blackjacks. I had a BJ model 16 but sold it, which was stupid lol. I miss that knife. I want a model 15 to replace it.

Precisely. Waiting to find someone to partner up with. Been the same way for years.

Pretty good selection. I need to pick up a Gunny. I am fond of their smaller blades as I might actually use them. :D

If Mike Stewart believed he can make money and he had a suitable US manufacturer (or cost to re-tool himself) he would probably do it. One thing about Stewart, he knows how to make money. I applaud him for that.
