Bark River Golok standard or upswept tip?

So I have the opportunity to purchase a Bark River Golok and I was wondering if there was any advantage to having one tip or the other. I like the upswept tip and it looks very East Java and it allows for a stabbing function. I'll be using it for outdoors work in the yard or something to have on the trails so is the upswept tip necessary? Some have been worried about damaging the tip on a bad swing. Thoughts?

I never bought one because of the butter knife looking round edge. I think I'll buy one of the upswept tip models.

I like the upswept better by far. And also best out of the 6 point styles they're offering now.

The rounded butter knife tip has some appeal to me, but I can't bring myself to actually buying one knowing full well that I will not use it due to the price relative to other short machetes I own. If I purchased, I would get the upswept point I think (like a traditional machete design). Stabbing is not something that I need and the point will be more fragile if you are cutting brush and trees.

If price is a concern get a 14" Tramontina or Mora #333. :)

42, I don't own a Tramontina machete. I will eventually buy one to try out. But you know I am a Condor fan and especially like the Golok and Parang machetes.

Price is ALWAYS and issue relative to intended use. I broke out my 14" Golok this week to cut some english ivy hanging down in my way as I navigated the sidewalk to a repo'd house. The first hit with the blade encountered the gutter and put another nick in my golok. But I persevered, and took out that rambunctious ivy along with some "trimming" on a thorny bush and some tall thick weeds. I wack this stuff to avoid tics as I walk by. I would have died if I did that with a $150+ Bark River golok.

I have the Condor Golok. Mean, but heavy. Great for yard work, not so sure i want to bring it on the trails. I'm not looking to scare the sheep, if you follow me.

Hi,
I have several sets of knives, for instance my Swamp Rat set is the Rodent 9, Ratmandu, and the Rodent Solution, get the picture of a set, then I have a Ontario set all orange G- 10 handle's in the 5160 steel, and a Bark River set, the Golok as the big blade, I baton with it, it's a great large blade knife, that A 2 steel is great and really keeps an edge. and I have mismatch set's with Khukuris as the large knife, and other Golok's too.
