First new knife in a long while, and it's a type of blade I've never owned before. The BRKT Highland Special is a full-tang fixed drop point with 4" of almost fully convex ground A2, black G-10 for scales fixed with hollow tubing (huge number of options available on BRKT knives). It came with a nice leather sheath w/belt loop.

First impression is that it's very nicely finished overall, and the fit is very good as well. The handle swells towards the butt of the knife providing a solid grip and the knife forms a simple guard leading up to the edge.

The blade stock seems really thick at 0.17" and the knife seems overbuilt overall. It'll be interesting to see how it cuts with the thick blade stock and the full convex grind. The knife is different in just about every way possible from my other fixed blade, a RAT-3, while having the same OA length.

Anyway, a nice addition to the collection, but I'll have to see if I end up keeping it.

It cuts very well. It will surprise you how well. And once you get the hang of the convex sharpening, you will be very pleased with how easily it touches up.

I got one of those for my son, and he really likes it. Very solid cutting performance with the full convex grind, and a breeze to resharpen on a strop. He was using it today to whittle some sticks while I was preparing our lunch (we hiked to Mist Falls in Kings Canyon NP).
