I figure I owe them the good publicity. Called them up today. Lady answers. Told her that I dropped my Bark River knife on the kitchen floor, point first, and bent the point back, and her response was, "Well, that sounds like it's covered under our lifetime warranty, so just send it back we'll take care of that for you." What a company! You have to wonder, though, what exactly is NOT covered under their lifetime warranty. :)

What would they say if I said I took an acetylene torch to it, and it melted? :D

Mike's (somewhat humorous) warrantee is that unless a the damage was caused by a badger, it's covered.

On the other hand, Mike doesn't suffer fools gladly, and if you go out of your way to purposefully damage a knife, he's not gonna smile at you!

When I worked at Sears, we had the unconditional Craftsman guarantee. I'd see people put a foot-long slotted screwdriver into a vice and twist it 3 or 4 times and then return it as damaged. Sometimes, they'd bend them into pretzels. No, I'm not joking. Once, a guy laid a perfectly good box end wrench across a car battery's terminals. It was severely melted, but you could still see the Craftsman name. We exchanged it, but it just goes to show that if you have a great warranty, idiots will try to test it.

Edit: Not to say that the guy who started this thread was an idiot, but rather that there are indeed fools who shouldn't be suffered.

When am I actually gonna pull the trigger on a BRKT blade? I've been wanting one forever dangit and these kind of threads make me want one even more! They offer so many sweet styles that I just can't choose one. Whenever I finally think I've picked a the right knife from them, then I have to choose a handle....

BRK are the best bang for your buck fixed blades on the market. Gorgeous, sharp as hell, and a great value.

Many, many, years ago, i worked as a tree and brush cutter for a small independent contractor. All of our hand tools were SK. I asked the boss once why he didn't use Craftsman, since they had such a good warranty. His reply was that out in the woods a warranty doesn't do you any good. A broken tool stops work. You need a tool that is so good you don't need a warranty. His choice at the time was SK, and I never saw one of those tools break. Now, I'm not downplaying the value of good warranties, but my boss' point is well taken. Quality is the most important virtue of a handtool, which applies certainly to knives.

Wow, what a Customer service!I highly doubt you would get that kind of service from any other compay

I actually do think it's amazing what Warranties knife companies will put on their knives. In almost any other industry or product they usually never honor damage if it is done by the owner, and they will only take blame if it is a factory defect.

BRKT,RAT, Kershaw,Spyderco,Buck,Benchmade and many others all have incredible customer service and warranty that will usually repair or replace a knife even if its the user's fault. Hooah!

and yes it even included acetylene torch
RAT's warranty
No Questions Asked Warranty. If you screw it up, break it, or cut it in two with a cutting torch, send it back and we'll replace it. Warranty is transferable.

I wish my car company would have a warranty like that!!

Waitaminnit! I thought you were announcing that BRKT was selling rocks. I was getting all excited for a nice obsidian blade from them.:(

Mike's (somewhat humorous) warrantee is that unless a the damage was caused by a badger, it's covered.

Hey, the badgers are no laughing matter. Those things can cause massive havoc!

Have to appreciate companies like Bark River, RAT, Busse and Ranger Knives that offer lifetime warranties. It does reveal, I believe, the makers' strong trust in the abilities of their products.

That is an impressive list of companies Elen. It is a testament to the American companies that are doing their part to turn the industry around. Going the extra mile like they do only asserts their drive and willingness to do so.:thumbup:
