On loan from Dennis Strickland for my cutting test series.

CPM 3V steel, it was a convex edge until I put a nice 15 degree per side edge on it for my tests. It's sharp now I can tell you. I literally took a few minutes to set the edge on my Edge Pro then sharpened it up and polished the edge. :)

These are great little knives.

I keep mine convex, they take and hold a great edge.

 Any reason why you're not testing the convex geometry this knife was designed with?

A few....

One, it wouldn't make any difference at all if it was convexed or V ground IMO. Personally I see zero advantage in a convex edge over a well done V grind 99% of the time. Convex edge is way over hyped except for heavy chopping and even then it's a tossup most of the time as long as the primary blade grind is convex. If you don't believe me watch my Busse NMFBM videos, the CG NMFBM is a V edge with a Convex primary grind, but done correctly.

Two, all the knives were reprofiled to 15 degrees per side to make things even across the board in the cardboard cutting series I am doing now.

I respect your opinion, but im one of those people that couldnt live without a convex edge, kinda funny actually i started out getting into knives and just was purchasing low budget mass production types (gerber LMF2, Gerber Prodigy, Becker BK7 ect.) and these knives are great but I just must not be ment to sharpen these angles on knives. I got a fallkniven F1 then i was hooked, then bark river Bravo1 then Lil Canadian was next ect. but man i love convex edges so much, it really hurts my feelings you dont have the same appreciation for them but its wat works for you:thumbup:, and dangit its so easy to maintain that convex edge! But i think we can both agree that the lil canadian in its cpm3v is one of the best 3.25 inch fixed blades for the price/quality, convex or not everyone should have one.

I respect your opinion, but...

Yo Dr. J, I'm a bit of a convex snob myself,

...but in the time that this thread was dormant I have become aware of Ankerson's edge retention testing,

...his re-profiling of that knife was part of his testing process.

Check out his test results in the Testing & Review subform.

That said, it would have been cool to see how it might have faired with the stock full convex profile.
