Bark River MACV-SOG Knife Opinions?

Yeah, as the title states. Anybody owns it? Anybody have opinions on it? I don't need one, I just always liked the general look of them (I recall wanting a SOG Bowie when it came out). I'd probably go for the stacked brown leather handle. I know BR had some steel mix-ups, but that doesn't super concern me, and I am more wondering about the whole "Are they well made for the money" aspect of things. There doesn't seem to be a whole lot info out as far I could find although I think they are relatively new as well.
Pictures are welcome, and if there are other Bowies in a similar style I haven't looked at, feel free to throw in some suggestions.

I’ve only seen them in 3V, usually Bark River 3V with a regrind is surprisingly awesome

Hey b00n,

I also like the look of the MACV-SOG, just because it seems like a really high quality version of what many others have viewed as a good military modern-style knife. I was considering purchasing on as a one-knife option blade, but ultimately settled on their Teddy II blade. I wanted a little more blade for my bowie. I own a Bravo 1 and a Teddy II from Bark River and I have zero complaints on their quality and I really like their A2 tool steel. I definitely think from the "are they well made for the money" aspect, I bet they would be. I consider Bark River knives a good buy for sure. On my Bravo 1, I had to use sandpaper on the grips because they were ridiculously slippery when wet. Now they are great.

My Teddy II Bowie w/Moran style handle (they have traditional handle and pommel style ones too):

That does look pretty sweet, I prefer the shape of the MACV blade though, if I planned on it being more of a practical user I could certainly go for it though.

I've been staring at them for a while. I've resisted the urge so far... I keep telling myself that I have no use for it... So far its worked:rolleyes:

If I end up getting one I can say horrible things about it so you'll be less tempted if you like? :D

I have the BRK MAC-V SOG with dark green macarta handle and I love it. Whenever I pick it up I marvel at how light and fast it is in the hand.

NOTE: I own approx 40 knives and this is my 3rd BRK. They are all beautiful. I also own the Barvo III and the other was a birthday gift for my mom. I am a pure collector, and do not use most of my knives I could not tell you abt warranty or issues that may develop in hard use.

Do a search on Mike Stewart. Lots of negative. The one's I had were fine but after learning about the man a bit I sold them all.

Ah yeah, that part. I vaguely recall reading about some troubles, without opening that can of worms again, I get what you mean now. It's a valid reaction.
