First of all, Hello to everyone im new to the site and this is my 1st post.
I am a member of AR15.com which some of you may be familiar with, but to get to the point i saw the BRME1 (thought id abreviate) in a pic. on the blade forums there and fell in love with it, guy that owned it gave me a link to www.agrussell.com to get one and ive been doing some studying on it and ill cut to the chase.

Ive never spent more than $100 on a knife and its $195 but im ready to step up to that i think.

What i Know about it, I know all the specs and it comes w/ a kydex sheath and three sets of grips etc.

What im really wondering is about the steel used for the Blade, its A2 and on the chart @ a.g. russell its under non-stainless steel, does this mean it will require more care and scrupulent maintenance or is it coated, also how does it hold an edge and how easy is it to sharpen, im not real good at sharpening yet but im getting there and i use a Warthog V-sharp.

Also any personal experience info on this knife would be appreciated. Thanks

I do not own that knife (although I'd like to), but I do have some experience with A-2 steel. That knife does not have any blade coating, so it will require a bit more care than a typical stainless knife. If you clean it after use and wipe it down occasionally with a Tuff-Cloth (or some other surface-coating agent) it should be just fine.

On the positive side, A-2 holds an edge exceptionally well and is relatively easy to sharpen. Tool steels like A-2 outperform even the best stainless steels in edge holding.

A2 has also been the steel of choice for Chris Reeve's fixed blades and Mission Knives non-titanium knives.

Maintenance isn't a major problem as long as you keep the blade clean, and oil it periodically. Sheathed wet is a bad idea. :) Of course, some environments are swampier than others, and salt water is even more corrosive.

If you can keep your rifle from rusting you'll be able to deal with the A2.

:D

195 is a great price.
They started at 279.
Mine does night table duty

The only negative I can think of is that it is so sharp you have to be careful. You will not be unhappy.

Welcome to the forums. It is always good to get some new blood in them.

now your talkin' my language haha:thumbup: The next question i have on this is the sheath, I may like it but im not a big fan of most kydex, is there anywhere i can have a leather one made for it. Thanks again ill be ordering the knife tomorrow.
