Bark River Mountain Man

I have one but haven't put it through any torture testing. It has done all that I ask and hasn't left me wanting for anything. My uses so far have included routine camp chores like food preparation, fuzz sticks, cleaned a few bluegill...all did fine. I have not built any shelters, batoned any tree trunks, or cut any car hoods in two. While it worked well for me for the small fish, I am not so sure that would be a good small game knife. It would definitely work, just not its sweet spot. It is a larger knife, but not a heavy knife. I really like the old style knives also.....if for nothing but the nostalgia.

I have one, like it a lot. I knew nothing about the 52-100 steel before getting the M/M knife. I am finding that it is very easy to sharpen, gets extremely sharp, holds an edge pretty well too. The steel takes on a beautiful patina with use. If you like your blades polished this one is not for you, you'll spend most of your time polishing it:D This is a close out model so get them while you can boys.

I've got one and love it. It's got a thin blade, so I haven't used it for anything extreme. It does work great as a camp kitchen knife.

Here's a pic of mine (the blade is much darker now):

I just joined the BRK Mountain Man club today.

Mine is in African ebony with brass pins...

Beautiful knife. I love the shape of the blade, and the classic coffin style handle is very comfortable.

Of my Bark River's, the handle of the Kephart FT and the Mountain Man are so far the more comfortable and pleasurable to hold for me.

Some are concerned with the thinness of the blade, but I find it ideal for this kind of knife. I would not want it any thicker.

The false grind definitely adds to the look. Very rustic and a great interpretation of an American classic IMO...

Can't wait to use it!
