This is the first knife review I have ever done and I hope you all enjoy it. I figured out how to get the pictures displayed here so you dont have to click links. Hope you all enjoy!

I recently purchased a Bark River Necker 2 and I feel it necessary to share with you all how great of a knife this is. I like it more than the Izula.

When I first got the knife I was very impressed at how little it weighed and how great it looked. Online pictures do not do it justice. The blade was razor sharp and could shave my arm out of the box. The handle is a little uncomfortable without the scales or paracord, but once I wrapped it it was perfect. I have medium-large hands and the handle is the perfect length for me. I do wish that the jimping went further up the spine though.

After I wrapped my handle with a "basket weave" it was time to do some cutting. The knife easily tackled all of the tasks I put it against. I wish that I had a video camera so I could show you all just how well it did. The knife went through apples effortlessly and could shave a tomato paper thin. I cut 2 large cardboard boxes into tiny pieces and was still able to shave my arm after. The knife went through 5mm thick leather like butter and also shined at making fuzz sticks.

I then went into some more strenuous tasks. I used some small logs about 2in diameter and did some batoning. The knife split the wood well and I did not experience any chipping on the edge. I also attempted to chop a soft pine log. Its not the best chopper but thats not to be expected from a knife of this size. I was however very impressed on how well this knife held its edge. Even after these tasks the knife would still go through paper with ease, but was pulling hair more than shaving. I touched up the edge with a leather strop loaded with green polishing compound and it didn't take long for the edge of the blade to shine and get hair splitting sharp. The blade has a wicked mirror finish and is super sharp.

I removed some of the Power Coating off the very tip of the spine so that way I could throw better sparks off the Misch Metal Fire Steel I ordered with it. I did this by soaking the tip in Acetone. I also used the holes in the sheath to wrap paracord through so I can run my belt through it. I keep the knife on my waist horizontally and it is easily concealable.

Overall this is an excellent EDC/Back up survival/Self Defense Blade. It is super light and you don't even know your carrying it. It holds its edge very well and is very easy to sharpen (I use mouse pad with sandpaper and finish with strop). The warranty from Bark River cant be beat and they also offer free resharpening forever (you pay shipping). I recommend this knife to everyone and I feel it reigns superior to the Izula.

Nice work. I bought the Bravo Necker 1 and now wish I'd bought the 2 instead. It's just shy of being a useful length.

thank you. I almost bought the Necker 1 myself, but wanted the extra blade length. I am very happy with my choice.

I have a necker 1 on the way. Hopefully its not too short for me, and I don't have any regrets. Do you still have your necker 1?

Nice review. Thanks!

If you don't mind my pointing out. There's an icon that looks like a picture postcard on the posting toolbar. You click it and it gives you a pop-up. Then insert your image shack link there. Then it displays the pic directly in the post.

Thank you for pointing that out. Im new to this and appreciate any tips! Trying to figure out how to resize them now lol

Nice review, and what a great little knife!

I have the Bravo Necker 1, and love it. For some reason I can get it sharper than any other blade I've owned.

I like it better than my Izula too.

Thank you! Im not sure if it gets sharper than the rest but its definitely easier to get scary sharp than others. It also holds an edge for a really long time. I am very impressed with these knives and will definitely be looking at Bark River for future purchases.

Nice review. Good looking knife.

I'm surprised at the steel they used a little. ( good steel ! just thought 1095 or something along those lines.. :D )

Thanks for your time.

Thanks man! This is the first knife I owned with this steel. From what I read online people have spoken highly of it. I am now a fan of it although I would really like to see them come in O1, A2 or D2 steel.

the bravo is a great knife. its made of my favorite steel...but i can't seem to warm up to it. it just seems unstable in the hand, even with the brkt handles.
the becker necker san mai beats it out for me.

great review though.

thanks! i like the becker necker too i just wish the handle was half an inch longer. the "bottle opener" in the handle digs into my palm and makes it very uncomfortable to cut with. still a great knife though

I heard about scales coming out for the becker necker i just wasnt sure when. im going to have to pick me up a pair. thanks for the heads up

The Necker 2 is sweet.

I just ordered a Necker 1 with ghost green jade matte scales though. I wanted something small enough to fit easily in front pocket. I love my other small Barkies, so this one should be a welcome addition. I've also got a Little Creek and Mikro Drop Point.

Barkies are amazing and addicting.

I have the necker 1 with ghost green jade scales also. It's a great little knife, love the convex grind. I'm sure the necker 2 is great as well but I don't need a longer neck knife than the Izula.

Nice review! I'd love to see a comparo shot of the necker 2 and the izula if you could take a pic...

good review man, bravo !!! bravo !!! (pun intended)

seriously I'm thinking about putting this badboy on the not to distant future list..

Thanks...!!
