I'm looking into getting a new knife and for some reason i am leaning towards a fixed blade for edc. A little while ago i saw a picture of the necker with jade green g10 scales and I thought it looked really nice. How is it to edc with the sheath that it comes with? It looks kind of big to go in a jean pocket. Also i have never had a convex ground knife, so how hard is it to sharpen? This could be a deciding factor because i only have the spyderco sharpmaker to sharpen my knives.

I am also looking at the ESEE izula as another option.

Pictures are greatly appreciated as they are worth 1000 words

Plenty of resources online (google) for how to sharpen convex knives. I like sandpaper and mouse pad... some people do it differently... either way, it's not that hard...

I love my Izula...

I stripped it and now it's my go to user blade. It's been to hell and back with me and still going strong...

It's the small one in this pic...;)

yeah the junglas would be kind of hard to edc:D

you cant go wrong with an izzie its easily one of my favorite blades and is the best bang for your buck out there as far as im concerned but the bravo necker does give you more options for handles but also costs a lot more with scales

yeah i know that the leather sheath will accept both knives but i havent been able to find any side-by-side pictures

Here are a few quick pictures for you. Convex is pretty easy to sharpen and keep sharp once you get the feel for it. The Bark River will be a better slicer and is stainless if that's a concern of yours. The coating on the Izula will hold up better. I also preffer the Izula sheath. The Izula is more comfortable in the hand with no scales than the Bravo but with scales on I think the Bravo feels better. Haven't wrapped the Bravo yet but some paracord wrap on the Izula is also very comfortable. Bravo sheath will hold a small firesteel as will the leather sheath. The leather sheath fits both knives perfectly and is very high quality. Both companies offer outstanding warranties.

thanks alot that really helps. i was under the impression that the necker was at least an inch longer

I carry the Necker in the Kydex in front pocket or in an Adirondak pocket sheath in rear pocket. It's great either way.

You can buy one, try it with the kydex, and if you would rather put it in the back pocket, grab an Adirondak sheath. Either way, it's a great knife. Super comfy. Customizable, And cool looking.

Bark River does make a larger version of the Bravo Necker that is .75 inches longer. ESEE also recently released the Izula II which is .50 inches longer in the handle than the original.

I've done it before! But yes, you are right, it is not very easy. Or convenient. Or comfortable. Or practical. Or easy to retrieve. Or concealable. But hey, the up side is that when you need one, you've got a frickin' Junglas under your shirt!
