I'm looking for a small pocket carry EDC fixed blade, and the Bark River Pro-Scalpel caught my eye. Anyone have any experience with this knife?

Not with that one, but a mini fox river in 3V would be my recommendation.

I want a blade 2" or less. I looked at the Mini-Fox River but it's just a bit larger than I want.

What about the quality of BRK knives overall? They look good, but I've never seen one in person.

Overall quality is excellent. I have a Bravo Necker, which is pocket sized. I find it excellent, except for the sharpish corner on the back of the handle. I will grind it off soon.

I own a grand total of 1. It's a Bravo 1 in S35VN. The fit and finish on that is really nice. It was a gift for my birthday this past year. I've used it to cut various things from food to some yard work. The edge held up alright, and i'm sure after the first reconvexing it will be better. I have no problems with it so far.

My thanks to both of you. Looks like it will be a safe purchase. The next step in my knife evolution will be a small custom. :joyous:

The Pro-Scalpel comes in CPM 3V, which is not a steel I have experience with but looks to be very good from what I've read.

What about the sheath? The one I'm looking at has a KSF pocket sheath, but I'm not sure that's the norm.

You would undoubtedly enjoy the 3V on that knife, it might be a bit too small to really appreciate the qualities in full. However, it would be absolutely awesome to have any fixed blade in 3V. If you buy from KSF, I think they do provide a sheath with all their knives. Shoot the owner an email.

My PSII came with this sheath (PSII not pictured in sheath)

Right now I'm looking at both the PSII and the PSK as possibilities. The PSK is only 0.175" longer than my 2" and has quite a bit more belly than the PSII.

The Little Creek was under consideration as well but its 2.65" blade is larger than I want.

I'm also considering getting a true custom.

Personally I wouldn't go w/ a fixed blade smaller than the PSII. I would use a folder if I needed a smaller blade.

You can't go wrong with Bark River. Get one from a reputable dealer (KSF, DLT, TKC)
