So, I've been wanting to get a small fixed blade to carry with me while out in the woods. I was eyeing a Bark River PSK, but was kind of put off by the sheath not having a belt-carry option. It's still an option, but I was wondering what you guys thought of the Mikro Canadian (the one in A2). Anybody have any experience with it? I was wondering which might be more useful with coupled with a Spyderco Paramilitary and a SAK Farmer (my two newest buys). Or, which one you prefer on it's on?

I like the psk. However I think the farmer and para you have will perform the same tasks as the psk. If it were me Id go with the mini canadian pared with your tools.

So, I've been wanting to get a small fixed blade to carry with me while out in the woods.

Look at the Bark River “Escort”.

It’s just a little bit bigger, but in use it seems much bigger. ;)

It has a great little sheath that rides high and tight.

I think it would be a more functional addition to your arsenal. :)

I've got a pre-production Mikro and it is a fine little knife. Overall, I still prefer the old 52100 steel that Mike (Stewart) used when he owned the origional Blackjack Knives, but the A2 still does a fine job.

The Mikro makes a dandy little addition to a larger sheath knife. If/when-ever I get time to make something for myself, I'd like to make a papoose sheath for my old Effingham 1-7 and the Mikro. Together, they'll handle just about any camping/hiking/"survival" chore that I can imagine.

Once you try a Mikro my guess is that you'll be amazed at what you can do with such a little knife. They are really quite handy. Although I haven't used mine for this purpose(yet) I would expect it to make a truly fine caping knife too.

I say buy both ,I own a Mikro and the PSK, I like both, the PSK is a little thinner handle but which ever you pick up you can't go wrong ....

I have used the snot out of this one - not just opening letters and packs of M&Ms. It's a serious outdoor tool.
One of the best designs I have used.
I cut the belt loops off and carry them in a pocket.

Tried the PSK two different times and still prefer the Mikro's handle.

Really like my Mikro in A2. Love the handle, small knife yet beefy. Strong sturdy design! Mine has been used and "almost" abused. :) Did I say I like the handle? Feels great in hand! Enjoy, M

I wrote a mini review on the mikro.

I like the knife a lot, but take a look at the photos. Even though I laid out the measurements, I was still shocked at how small it was when I got it. I love the thing, and carry it in my pocket everyday, just wanted to make sure you knew what you were in for.

Don't forget, there is also a Mini-Canadian which is just a bit bigger. Another good choice.

I have no experience with the PSK, but it looks like a fine knife as well. I have used BR 12C27, and it is my favorite stainless.

Hope that helps,
Brian

I like the mini-CDN a bit better, just having that extra reach on the choil for a full 4 finger grip will give a lot of power to this little knife
