Bark River Rogue... who has one?

Howdy all, I have been eye-ballin' the Rogue ever since it came out. I held off getting one because I didn't think I'd ever carry it. Well... recently I dragged out my Camillus OVB bowies and carried them tucked between my belt and pants using the frog to keep it in place. Worked extremely well, even while seated. Also was next to invisible under an untucked shirt. I carried while out on a hike with the kids, so there was an excuse to be toting a large knife.

However, I have hesitated to actually USE my OVB's, before just because they were so nice looking, and now because it looks like Camillus is going TU. I'm sure there will be those that argue not to use them because they will "increase in value". Still haven't decided what to do.

Which brings me to the Rogue... this knife would certainly fill the same role as the OVB's, yet I would not hesitate to beat the crap out of it. It fills the large fixed blade out in the woods role pretty good, and is perhaps the original "tactical" blade (see "Sandbar fight") I am a fan of BRKT's A2 and their convex grinds, so I do know it will perform well. As I understand it, there is the first production run, which is hidden tang, and the second run which is full tang. I actually prefer the look of the hidden tang, but there have been a few reports of failure during improper batoning. Hmmmm, can't remember the last time I batoned, and if I do... I will do it properly. Not an issue with me.

Who has one? Is it hidden tang or full tang? What handle material do you have? What have you done with it? Would you buy it again?

Thank you in advance for your answers,
Mongo

I have one of the 1st Production knives in black canvas micarta. It hasn't seen heavy use, I have khukuris for the big stuff. I have used it in the kitchen though. It makes a passable kitchen knife, although its thickness precludes it from being a truly effective slicer. The balance is wonderful and it is very nimble. If I had to do it all over again I would buy this knife without hesitation. I wouldn't buy it in micarta though, I prefer and should've waited for one in curly maple or some other nice warm wood.

I've seen two in person, one at the Chespeake Knife Club meeting, and one at a gun show. They had different handles, but were both beauties, and beasts. To use or to show, I think it would make a good knife.

Well, in celebration of getting a molar yanked today... I found what I was looking for, only better. A rather nice chunk of afzalea wood on this beauty. Should be arriving next week. I will attempt to post a pic, if my computer retardedness will let me.

Yet another attempt to post a pic from super pooter-tard...

Well, Mongo, with regards to the batoning, Mike said (on a public forum) that of all Rogues made they have only ever gotten two broken back and one of which was broken on purpose (test). Hence, he said, if you brake one, they are going to replace it. I think you should be safe. :D

I have 2 big guy, and you will not be disappointed with that one!

seriously*
