Greetings all, my birthday present to myself arrived today exactly 2 days after I ordered it from DLT trading company. (excellent service!) www.dlttradingcompany.com I ordered the maroon micarta with black micarta guard, and it is an absolutely gorgeous handle material. This is a chute knife inspired design and has really pleasing lines. Blade material is 12c27 and is 4.9" in length. Of course, being a Barkie... it is screaming sharp convex edged. The handle has a pleasing palm swell with a pinky hook at the end. It also has an unlined thong hole. Grinds are even and the fit and finish is superb.
My initial impression of the sheath is mixed. It is a belt sheath with a snap over strap. The leather is thick and well constructed, but the style is not versatile enough for me. I was hoping it would fit a Kenny Rowe boot sheath I have for another knife, but alas the blade is a hair too wide. I will explore either another Kenny sheath or one of several kydex options in due time.

Time will tell about my impression of the steel, as this is my first in 12c27. I intend to put it through it's paces and report back. However, my overall initial impression is very favorable. If you are a fan of the chute knife pattern, this knife will not disappoint you. If you are already a fan of Bark River knives, you already know how good it is. If you are not yet a fan of Barkies, I urge you to join the growing fan club!

Congratulations on the new knife:thumbup: . I like BRKT for hard users. I have two moras in the 12c27 steel. I like it. I'm not a fan of SS at all, but the 12c27 is very easy to touch up, and hold an edge fairly well. It's not a super steel, but it works well for me.

Classic chute knife. Cuts like the dickens.

The sheath is by Sullivan's of Tampa, a name some here will recognize (:D ).
