i have a canadian mikro II and i want to carry it like folder clipped inside my front pocket. the standard leather sheath would be great if it just had a clip instead of the leather belt loop. do you have any idea how i could add some type of clip or maybe alter the leather loop to hang over my pocket securely?

by the way is there an easy way to remove the rivet on the beltloop or would i have to cut it?

How about you make a spring clip out of some Kydex and then fasten it to the inside of the belt loop? (Steal a clip from another case?)
I suspect you'll have to cut off the rivet. You might be able to sand/grind the outside off (carefully so you don't burn the leather) and then pop the remainder through.
I made a whole Kydex sheath, using a Dozier sheath for a model, and wear it horizontal on my belt. It's practically invisible.

I think the problem is attaching the clip with a rivet or two without destroying the front facing of the sheath. Tandy sells 3 or 4 sizes of clips, the smallest of which would probably fit your Mikro sheath size.

You might be able to cut a slit in the belt loop to slide the clip through and drill a hole lower on the loop to rivet the clip to loop.....but then, you've got to get the anvil behind the rivet. THat puts the anvil between the loop and sheath, and I can't see how it would be supported enough to provide enough backing while you (pound) close the rivet.

You can either make a sheath from scratch or have one made. You might even opt for a Kydex rig, I think Normark has them made and ready to order or he could make one for you. Or you could order a few supplies and make your own Kydex.

In the end, trying to modify a sheath is tough, at least from my perspective.

Here are some sheath-making sites. I made my very first sheath....very first leather project....back in May of this year. It's easy. One of these links even shows how to make a sheath with a clip instead of a belt loop.

Start from scratch.
Basic leather work isn't all that hard and it is always easier to start with a plan than modify something that is already sewed shut.
One with a pocket clip

The knife and clip are bigger, but you get the idea.
Or, one without a clip that stands up in your pocket

Good luck and show us your results :D
