I moticed while looking at bark rivers online that different sites list different steels for the same knives...some say a2 for one blade while another says sandvik...I'm curious if this is just "merchant confusion" or if the blades are perhaps from different production runs.

They use 12c27 in some models, though I didnt know they used diffrent steel's in the same model.

haha, now im interested.

The sites may have it listed wrong. I think Mike said some time back that some sites were getting it mixed up. Check on his site.

Good luck on your search RR!

rr- it could be a mistake.... and they do a lot small production runs too.....

have you checked out the BRKT forum over at knifeforums.... there is a lot of cool folks there..... not to mention a wealth of BRKT releted info...:D

I have been told that the list on the Bark River Knife Collector's Association has the correct information about steel used in different models.

http://www.barkriverknives.com/home.html click on current production.

Off the top of my head, the only model that has been offered in more than one steel is the Mikro Canadian. Early models were A2, and the Mikro Canadian II is 12C27.

It's merchant confusion. A number of retailers who are not directly connected with BRKT are less than precise in their listings.

The Bark River Knives Collectors Association (google it) has the accurate details.
