Guys,
I am getting a Bark River Strike Force knife in A2 steel. Is it good for outdoor task ? Or is it only a fighting knife ? If yes or if no , please suggest alternates .

It should be a fine outdoor knife, BRKT makes good stuff. The only drawback would be batoning with the swedged spine. That thinner spine will chew up your baton, if that is even something you plan to do. But people baton with Mora knives and those have thin spines. It really comes down to your intended uses. There are several reviews on YouTube showing it in use. For me, the Bravo 1.25 LT 3V is about the perfect outdoor knife, but to each their own. The Mora knives for the money are great for $20.. really!! Everyone should have one in their pack.

Check out the "Great Outdoors" forum section here.. there is gear talk specific to camping/hiking, etc with good discussions. And again.. YouTube has lots of info.

image.jpg Hey friend, what kind of work you looking to do with it? I love BRK, my favorite is the Gunny Hunter carbon fiber 3-v.

It's thinner behind the edge, I wanted something more slicey, than robust.

Another favorite is the Aurora.

Congratulations, you should get some good use from her.

What are you going to be doing outdoors with the knife?

I've had a few bark rivers over the years but sold them all because I don't trust the owner of the company. If you search around you can find some not so glowing information.

Are you located in the USA?

I do like hiking in forests and do some basic woodwork and beating the bushes. I live in Mumbai.
How has been your experience .??

I do similar things as you. My brkts that I once had never failed me (I replaced the sheaths with kydex, personal choice). I got rid of them because I don't trust the company.

You being outside the USA, it is worth noting that if you do have a problem, getting the problem solved might be a hassle. This is a thread worth checking out: https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/normal-20cv-behavior.1461700/

This guy was in Europe and got a mislabeled steel. Brkt lied and said the steel's behavior was normal. He had to jump through a bunch of hoops to get satisfaction.

There have been quite a few issues with brkt over the years. Do a search and you will find them.

Knives that I personally own and recommend in this size range for your use would be an esee 6 (upgrade to tkc scales), or a becker in whatever flavor you like (upgrade sheath and scales). I have the bk15 and 5. These options would cost less than the brkt. My ultimate outdoor knives are made by Carothers Performance Knives (FK & HDFK). These are way above the cost of the brkt but the value is much better imo.

What brought you to wanting this brkt? What are other options in your country, like local stuff? How are you ordering this knife?

I'm not try to dissuade you from getting the brkt. I'm just trying to let you know of issues you may not be aware and give you options of what I use.

Oh, and pictures!
