The age old question...if just one knife...

Never owned a barkie, but I've done a lot of research, and from everything that I've seen, they will be the makers of my next knife. Unlike a lot of folks, I'm a little partial to a slightly larger blade. I'm looking for a good survival/bushcraft knife that will be doing a lot of chopping, snare making, skinning, ect... you know the drill. I really like the looks of the Bravo 2, but I haven't seen a whole lot of commentary on it. I also like the Smoke Jumper, but it looks like it might be a little too light for a whole lot of chopping. Any comments on these, or suggestions for other styles in a 6" to 9" blade? Thanks in advance for the help!

I personally have a Bravo 1 that is a great knife and from my understanding the Bravo 2 is just a larger version. It should be a great knife if it is comparable.

I prefer the B2 to the SJ-the B2 is a workhorse and I am not a big fan of the false grind on the SJ.

:)

i like the gameskeeper 2 ,i think its the most underated barkie out there, aloha

No price yet...I don't think....but you should check out the thread on the Scrapyard site, there are other great pics demonstrating it's tip strength etc !!!!

I started with a Huntsman - minimalist personified. Next, I muddied the waters by getting a Fox River, North Star LE, and Gameskeeper almost together. Then - a Boone - traditional - and a Journeyman - minimalist traditional. All could suffice for most survival/bushcraft uses. Somehow, the North Star is neat - and has a home - just don't know why (It nicked me the first day - it was cold & wet, too - just a glorified paper cut. Love the Fox River - but love the Gameskeeper more - stout knife with great hand protection, yet you can choke up for fine cuts. Love A2, too.

I am not fond of the Bravo's thumb ramp. I may have to get one anyway. Not this summer - I've spent all I can afford for a while.

You can ask BRKT to take it off for you :) (In my case, requests made through Derrick):

My Gunny is coming with the ramp removed also and the spine squared a bit better (my Bravo-1 throws sparks, but not as well as my F1).

To the OP, I haven't heard much about the B2 either, but everything I have heard is good . Big Mike likes the big Barkies, he'll give you some good info :).
